Obituary

Ottis "Ty" Sirmans, 60, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Methodist Hospital-North.

He was an employee of the Workforce Development Department at Dyersburg State Community Center, former safety and environmental engineer for Firestone, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, a graduate of Purdue University and an avid fisherman and animal lover.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. W.L. McCadney and the Rev. Trent McManus officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, Ind.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Jo Hughes Sirmans of Dyersburg; a daughter, Nicole Leigh Shepard and husband, Eric, of Dyersburg; a brother, George Michael Sirmans and wife, Patricia, of Hahira, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Julie Newhouse and husband, Tracy, Bonnie Ford and husband, Rick, all of Rushville, Ind. and Sara Weddle and husband, Paul, of Shelbyville, Ind.; three nieces, Paige Alexis of Rushville, Ind., Bonnie Ann Weddle of Shelbyville, Ind. and Kretia Weddle-Rutherford of Noblesville, Ind.; and two nephews, Gabe Sirmans and wife, Brandi, and Zane Sirmans, all of Hahira, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tulk Sirmans and Evelyn Ruth Roberts Sirmans.

Pallbearers will be Allan Shepard, John Hart, Richard Villiva, Richard Aube, Justin Wisdom and Ronald Moore.
