Mrs. Opal Kay Armstrong, 77, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Alamo Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Kay was born December 2, 1946 in Maury City to the late Frank & Opal Scroggins. She retired after 43 years working in operations management with Wal-Mart in Dyersburg. In her free time, she loved to play games and travel, visiting 49 of the 50 United States. She and her husband spent much of their time together, from building their own house to crafting and selling woodwork at local craft fairs and cooking in BBQ contests as the "Maw & Paw Hillbilly BBQ team".

She is survived by her husband, Bill Armstrong; a son, Timothy Smith; four daughters Roxanna Goodman, Gina Pitt, Cindy Poe, Tammy Poe and Angel Larson; her brother, James Scroggins. She was loved as "Mamaw" by her 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cindy Sipes; and her two sisters, Betty Lumley and Joyce Spann.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Dyersburg Funeral Home from 5:00–8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Bro. Eric Larson. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Honoring Kay as pallbearers will be Eric, Chad & Brad Tubbs, Brian Stout, Noah & Ryan Larson and Kaleb Pitt.

The family request that memorials be made in Kay's honor to Alzheimer's support and research.
