Oneida B. Armstrong, 96, of Knoxville, formerly of Tiptonville, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016.
She was a devoted member of South Knoxville Church of Christ. Oneida lived through two world wars and the Great Depression. She taught herself French and became close with many students from all over the world evaluating and instructing them in their bible lessons via the internet. She wrote poetry and painted in her free time, kept a garden, and loved taking walks. Oneida was beautiful.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tiptonville City Cemetery with Mr. Don Reel officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Tony Armstrong, Carole Black, and Mike Armstrong; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Wray Armstrong; two brothers, Robert Brent and Virgil Brent; and a sister, Charlene Brown.
