Olen "Sonny" Nelson Shelton, age 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on April 23, 1934, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Alvin and Easter Lindsey Shelton. Olen was a 1952 graduate of Ridgely High School and worked as a plant manager at International Paper. He was a sports enthusiast, particularly fond of the TN Vols and the Arkansas Razorbacks, and his favorite team is the Lake County Falcons. Olen loved to travel and camp and was a devoted Baptist.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024 at New Haven Cemetery with Bro. Rick Crawford officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Survivors include his three daughters, Carol Shelton Hooper and husband, Lynn of Newbern, TN, Mona Carlisle and Sandy Kirk, both of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Wayde Shelton and wife, Deanna, of Ringo, GA and Stan Shelton and wife, Irene, of Ridgely, TN; a sister, Wanda Shelton Howell of Hopkinsville, KY; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Blackburn Shelton; a daughter, Luann Shelton; and a sister, Thressa Hutcheson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Hutcheson, Tommy Hutcheson, Landon Hooper, Skylar Shelton, Garrett Shelton and Tony Howell. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Hutcheson.
