Neva Fay Rickman Hutching, age 84, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on July 2, 2023 at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, TN.
Fay was born on August 25, 1938 to the late Ollie Vester Rickman and Daisy Shropshire Rickman. She grew up in Statonville, TN, where she went to grade school and high school. She was the baby of their family and she loved her nieces and nephews that she grew up with. Fay was a basketball and baseball athlete during her school days. She helped her dad and mom run their cotton gin and farmed in her youth.
Fay was retired from Thomas Industry. Through the years, she enjoyed teaching her children to always give and help others in need. Fay was an active elementary den mother at their school and made sure to help with their after-school and church activities. She loved gardening and planting flowers, because she had a "green thumb". Fay sold home interior and had many parties for several years. She loved having big birthday parties when her children were small and having friends and family to attend. Her favorite time of year was a big Christmas dinner she cooked, especially as her grandchildren were coming along. All friends and family were invited at Christmas time to enjoy being together. She loved donating every month to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. She loved and attended Oak Grove Church of Christ.
Fay is survived by her husband, Jimmy Boyd Hutching Sr.; her three children, Teresa Davis of Dyersburg, TN, Mary Ann Savage of Pensacola, FL; and Jimmy (Cindy) Hutching, Jr. of Dyersburg, TN; 5 grandsons, Jason Jones (Nikki), Jeremy Irby, Torin Savage, Tyler Hutching and Connor Hutching; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a bonus daughter, Nelda Turnbo Ozment.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by four brothers, James Rickman, Bill Rickman, Wesley Rickman and Bobby Rickman; three sisters, Rachel Ervin, Loneda Gardner and Bonnie Rickman; one grandson, Jeremy Michael Irby and one great-granddaughter, Kiley Jones.
A celebration of life service has already occurred with immediate family.
Fay donated herself to The Genisis Foundation for medical science. She believed in helping others through her life and she helped new and upcoming doctors around the world learn 16 new procedures. Fay was returned to her family in January of 2025.
