Nellie Frances Ramey

Nellie Frances Ramey, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away at her residence on October 18, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on December 6, 1941, in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Ms. Ramey will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and for the simple joys that filled her days. She loved to sew, crochet, cook, and can, and she found happiness in caring for others through the work of her hands. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and treasured those moments shared together. She also enjoyed visiting flea markets and craft shows and liked going out to eat. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Her family was the center of her life. She is survived by her children, Lester Ramey of Dyersburg, Eddie Ramey and his wife, Pattie, of Dyersburg, Rochelle Ramey of Dyersburg, Cathy Diane Ramey of Newbern, and Michelle Simpson of Newbern. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie Neal of Dyersburg; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Those who knew Nellie will remember her as a devoted mother, a loving family member, and someone who took great joy in being surrounded by the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ramey, Sr.; her parents, Floyd and Betty Noel Neal; her son, Virgil Earl Ramey; her daughter, Betty Jean Roberts; her twin sister, Brenda Jean Ramey; her great-grandchild, Alex Overton; and by her best friend, Rachel Allen, whose friendship was a special blessing in her life

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home, 420 US-51 ByPass W, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Rev. Danny O'Guin officiating. Burial will follow at Dyer County Memorial Gardens, 2455 St. John Ave, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.

Nellie Frances Ramey leaves behind a legacy of love, family devotion, faith, and the warmth of a life lived close to home and close to those she cherished most. Her memory will be held dear by all who knew and loved her.
