Murray G. Anderson, 81, of Manteno, IL, formerly of Ridgely, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL.

He was born on September 15, 1941, in Metropolis, IL, to the late Truman and Ruby Hurt Anderson. Murray was a retired precision drill press operator for GM Motors, where he worked for 35 years. He was very proud of the work he did at GM. Murray was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, IL. He enjoyed playing the guitar, bowling and going to amusement parks. Murray also loved to write and sing songs and was an ordained minister.

A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Anderson of Manteno, IL; two sons, John Wesley Anderson (Tammy) of Coal City, IL and Timothy Earl Anderson (Louise) of Lone Oak, AR; a daughter, Rhonda Jean Pettit (William) of New Lenox, IL; a brother, Truman Anderson, Jr. (Aileen) of Cape Coral, FL; three sisters, Ruby Kay Garner (Chester) and Linda Faye Petersen, all of Murray, KY and Donna Montgomery of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Murray was preceded in death by two brothers; and three sisters.

Family members and friends servered as pallbearers.
