Michael S. Powell

Michael S. Powell, age 54, was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, who passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on October 23, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, Michael brought warmth, kindness, and an adventurous spirit to all who knew him.

Michael’s life was richly woven with deep family bonds and enduring friendships. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 28 years, Paulette Morrow of Newbern, TN; and his cherished daughter, Britanie Neal of Oakland, TN. Michael also leaves behind his caring mother and stepfather, Ruby and Stanley Smith of Southaven, MS; and his father and stepmother, Donnie and Kay Morrow of Oakland, TN, who supported him unconditionally throughout his life. He is survived by his stepsons, Jim Ritter of Memphis, TN and Jason Ritter of Colorado, who joined him on life’s journey. Michael’s brother, Donnie Morrow and wife, Katie, of Arlington, TN, and sister, Tiffany Morrow of Cordova, TN, also mourn the loss of a treasured sibling.

Those close to Michael will forever recall his passion for the outdoors and his zest for excitement. He dearly loved to fish and hunt, delighting in the tranquility and challenge these pursuits offered. Another of Michael’s lifelong passions was NASCAR; watching races brought him immense joy, and his admiration for Tony Stewart was unwavering. Drag racing and motorcycling also called to Michael’s adventurous nature, providing an outlet for his thrill-seeking spirit. Many fondly remember Michael for his dedication to working on cars, especially his prized project—a 1978 El Camino that became a symbol of both his mechanical talent and his love for craftsmanship.

Michael’s legacy is carried on by all who shared in his hobbies and passions and who experienced his loyalty and warmth firsthand. He approached life with enthusiasm, resilience, and a sense of adventure, leaving lasting memories for each person who had the honor of knowing him.

Visitation for Michael S. Powell will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Dyersburg Funeral Home, located at 420 US-51 ByPass W, Dyersburg, TN 38024. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location as friends and family gather to celebrate Michael’s life and to say their farewells.
