Michael Powell, 68, of Munford, TN, formerly of Ridgely, TN, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. Born on May 12, 1958 in Union City, Tennessee, Michael’s life was marked by dedication to his family, his profession, and the countless passions that filled his days with purpose and joy. He was a devoted son, brother and father.
Michael’s career as a civil engineer was both distinguished and fulfilling. As a professional engineer for Linkous Construction, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers for his attention to detail, integrity, and unwavering work ethic. Michael was known as someone who was not only very organized, but always a good provider to those he loved and cared for most.
Faith was an essential part of Michael’s journey. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, where he cultivated lasting friendships and found strength in his community.
True to his Tennessee roots, Michael was an avid Vol fan, cheering passionately for his team. He also followed the St. Louis Cardinals with enthusiasm, bridging his love for sports between college and the major leagues.
Those who knew Michael were warmed by his love for animals and his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures. He found relaxation and challenge alike in working crossword puzzles and was always eager to flip furniture, turning old pieces into sources of beauty and function. Music provided him with constant comfort, and he found great joy in watching episodes of Andy Griffith and classic Westerns, sharing laughter and stories with those around him.
Michael’s legacy is one of generosity, love, and quiet strength. He lived with an unwavering sense of organization, always prepared and ready to help others however he could. His life was shaped by the rich relationships he maintained and nurtured—most importantly, his roles as a son, brother, and father, to which he brought deep devotion and care.
