Melvin D. Tirey

Melvin D. Tirey, 76, of Finley, Tennessee, passed away on September 27, 2026, at Signature Healthcare Ridgely. He was born on May 6,1950 in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Mr. Tirey proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Army. He went on to build a career of responsibility and public service as an Associate Warden for the Tennessee Department of Corrections. His life also reflected a deep commitment to fraternity and fellowship. He was a 32nd-degree Mason of Hess Lodge #93, a member of Harmony Lodge #187, Western Son #88, the Scottish Rite Memphis, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathy Campbell Tirey, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Casey and Betty Glozier Tirey; his brother, Kenneth Tirey; his paternal grandparents, Kenny and Amanda Tirey; and his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Lucy Glozier.

Melvin leaves behind those who will cherish his memory with love and gratitude. He is survived by his son, Brad Beasley and wife, Nicole, of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his sister, Dian Dawson and husband, Bill, of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and his granddaughter, Miss Ava Grace Beasley. He is also survived by his favorite niece whom he loved dearly, Amanda Dawson Griffin and husband, Bill; his favorite nephew, Henry Winter Griffin of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and his friend, Don Qualls of Obion, Tennessee. Their memories of him, and the bonds they shared with him, will remain a lasting source of comfort.

A graveside service will be held on October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Mr. Andy Brewer officiating. Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Melvin D. Tirey will be remembered with respect for his service, his steady presence, and the many connections he maintained through his work, family, and fraternal life. His memory will be held close by all who knew and loved him.
