Melissa Jane Thurmond's Obituary
Melissa Jane Thurmond, 54, of Ridgely, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at her residence.
She was a retired corrections officer for Northwest Correctional Complex and was also a former employee with the State Gazette. Melissa attended Church Grove Baptist Church in Newbern.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Meleah Thurmond-Edwards and husband, Mancell, of Lakeland and Laura Beth Thurmond of Ridgely; her father and step-mother, Charles and Susan Runions of Ridgely; a brother, Christopher Devon Runions of Ridgely; and six grandchildren, Keaston Jones, Mahalya Edwards, Aidan Thurmond, Ella Edwards, Camden Chamberlain and Bainbridge Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Pamela Turner; and two brothers, Charles Ural Runions, Jr. and Charles Lynn Runions.
Pallbearers will be Alex Runions, Jordan Lynn Runions, Keaston Jones, Brandon Runions, Cotton Brewer and Tommy Crocker. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Robison and Jeff Robison.
