Ms. Mattie Peay Brasfield, of Friendship, passed away Thursday Jan. 23, 2020 at the Bells Nursing Home. Mattie Peay was born June 13, 1933 to the late Finis and Eleanor Brasfield. She was a life-long member of Friendship Baptist Church and devoted her life to serving others in her community. She was a custodian for the Friendship Baptist and Methodist churches as well as the Crockett Telephone Co. and loved hosting meals for family gatherings, assembling puzzles and always had her camera ready to capture memories.

She is survived by her brother, Franklin and Linda Ann Brasfield and sister, Linda Sue and Buck Nash, all of Friendship. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and her many special caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Finis and Eleanor Brasfield and her brother, Taylor Brasfield.

Visitation will begin Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Reverends Mike Melton, Tommy Warner and Trevor Sewell, with interment to follow in Bellevernon Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Shawnee, Orey & Lee Brasfield, Chad Nash, Taylor & Nash Moore and Derick Burks.
