Obituary

Mary Emmalene Yates, 94, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her residence.

Emmalene was born on January 3, 1927, in Barlow, KY, to the late, Clyde and Della Copeland Eidson. She was a homemaker and partner at General Appliance & Furniture Company and was a science teacher at Dyersburg High School for 4 years. Emmalene was a graduate of Murray State University and was a member of First United Methodist Church. On July 31, 1949, she married her husband, Billy Yates.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mary Beth Bernheisel and the Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark Yates and Joe Yates and wife, Patty, all of Dyersburg, TN; a daughter, Laura Yates Emerson and husband, John, of Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren, Mary Ruth Yates, Matthew Emerson, Mark Moll, Michael Moll, Amanda Yates Conti and Bill Yates; six great-grandchildren, Grace Emerson, Lily Emerson, Abigail Emerson, Madelyn Emerson, Sophia Emerson and Emmalynn Faith Conti; and a son-in-law, Steve Moll.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Yates; a daughter, Jane Yates Moll; a grandson, Luke Emerson, a sister, Anna Lee Mattocks, and three brothers, Earl Eidson, Lois Eidson and Willard Eidson.

Pallbearers will be Hugh Todd, Jerry Weaver and her grandsons.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 100 McGaughey Street, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
