Mary Elizabeth Newby, age 93, of Newbern, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Born on October 19, 1932, in Dyersburg, TN, she was the daughter of the late Ashley and Annie Laura Moore Reagor. Mary was a dedicated self-employed dog groomer for 34 years, a profession she loved dearly. She was also a devoted homemaker. Her passion for square dancing led her to join a square-dancing club, and she enjoyed playing Bingo in her leisure time. Mary was a member of the Caruthersville Jesus Name Tabernacle.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 and from 9-10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her son, Nick Moss and wife, Sue, of Red Boiling Springs, TN; a daughter, Laura Bruce and husband, Greg, of Lexington, TN; three stepchildren, Ann Newby of Montrey, CA, Sarah Moore of Dyersburg, TN and Marie Newby of Carson City, NV; a brother, Gayland Reagor and wife, Cathy, of Dyersburg, TN; a sister, Joanne Reasons and husband, Sam, of Dyersburg, TN; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; her special caregivers, Hope, Nicole, Tammy, Jennifer and Hannah; a special friend, Linda Chamberlain; ten grandchildren, Holly, Jason, Rita, Mallory, Megan, Marshay, Bobby, Rick, Tom and Becky; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Newby, who passed away in August 2023; a son, Tim Reynolds; two brothers, Max Reagor and Don Reagor; and a sister, Faye Reagor.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
