Obituary

Mary Lou Yates, 95, of Tiptonville, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Reelfoot Manor Nursing Center.

She was a retired employee for the United States Post Office and was a member of Tiptonville Church of Christ. Mary Lou was an avid gardener, cook, and canner.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Mr. Carl Mills officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Yates of Tiptonville; two sisters, Dorothy Dyer of Tiptonville and Linda Haggard of Dyersburg; a brother, Charles Wallace of Tiptonville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Wade LaFate Yates; her first husband, Woodrow Wilson Cook; a son, Woody Cook; and her parents, James and Audrey Hogan Wallace.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wade Yates, Joel Cook, Jimmy Yates, Matt Cook, Reid Yates; and Will Yates. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby Barker, Jimmy King, William Benthal, Dallas Stacks, Tony Wallace, Bobby Matheny, Jonathan Bartlett, Bobby Upson, and James Robert Haggard.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Tiptonville Main Street Association.
