Mary Martha Cribbs Underwood, 92, of Dyersburg, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at her residence.

She worked 6 years for the Dyer County School System and retired from The Department of Human Services, where she worked for 26 years. She was a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ, graduated as "Best All Around" from Dyersburg High School in 1937 and graduated from Austin Peay College. She had a world of friends and family whom she always kept up with and stayed in contact with.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Burse officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son, James Edwin "Jim" Underwood of Dyersburg; two daughters, Martha Sherman Underwood of Nashville and Janice Sue Underwood of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Eddie Underwood, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Hoover, AL, Susanne Mokros and husband, Chris, of Rosswell, GA and Tim Underwood and wife, Jennifer, of Pulaski, TN; and six great-grandchildren, Ivy Underwood, Mary Grace Underwood, Christopher Mokros, Olivia Mokros, Anna Katherine Underwood and Jack Underwood.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her six caregivers, Lori West, Robin Johnson, Brenda Jackson, Daffney Hernandez, Jessica Lineberry and Megan Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Fowler Underwood; her parents, Bead West and Jesse Hale Cribbs; and a brother, James Howard Cribbs.

Pallbearers will be Joe Johnson, Collin Carpenter, Bobby LaRue, Buddy Hart, Mike Lunsford, Dr. Scott Self and Danny Dedmon. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hart, Neely Pritchett, Bryon Smith, Billy Cole, James Hunt and Bob Klutts.

The family requests that memorials be directed to RoEllen Community Cemetery Fund, 6040 Hwy 104 E, Dyersburg, TN 38024, a charity that was established by Mrs. Underwood.
