Mary Thelma Countess, age 94, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at West TN Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Thelma was born on September 12, 1925 to the late Cassie and Nannie Grace Bledsoe Richardson. She was a graduate of Dyersburg High School and Bethel College. Thelma was a retired teacher and librarian for the Dyer County School System. She attended church at Hillcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Thelma was also very active in the Dyersburg Little Theatre. She loved to travel, read and crochet.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at 1 P.M. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Gary Durham.

Survivors include her two sons, David Countess of Dyersburg and Danny Countess of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Linda Dean of Dyersburg; one brother, Doc Richardson of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Briana Countess, Courtney Williams, Jana Thompson and Arty Atkins; and two great grandchildren, Edy Williams and Ella Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband, Gaston Countess and her daughter, Brenda Atkins.
