Mary Elizabeth Adams Smallwood, 93 formerly of Kingsport, TN passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, a Girl Scout leader and children's Sunday School teacher at Broad Street Methodist Church.

She was a loving mother who dedicated her life to caring for her husband of 54 years and children and grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Kingsport, TN with the Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Smallwood Franks of Dyersburg; 5 Grandchildren; Ashleigh Carmack Curtis of Dyersburg, Lindsey Brooke Groseclose, of New York, Allison Paige Franks of Murfreesboro, Mark Reid Groseclose (Audrey) of Raleigh, NC, and Charles Robert "Chase" Groseclose (Inga) of Richmond, VA.

Also surviving are three Great Grandchildren; Ashton Taylor Curtis and James Michael "Jace" Curtis III of Dyersburg and Mark Reid Groseclose III of Raleigh, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John I. and Phebie Elizabeth Hughes Adams, her husband, Charles H. Smallwood, Jr., a daughter Anna Gwyn Smallwood Groseclose and 2 sisters and 1 brother.
