Marvin F. Craig, 87, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at The Highlands Nursing Home in Dyersburg.
He was an engineering technician for over 40 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation and for 20 years for the Dyer County Highway Department, was a member of Fowlkes Baptist Church, a farmer, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Buckley and Bro. Neal Chatham officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Oleta Craig; a daughter, Phyllis Burchfiel and husband, Malcolm, of Dyersburg; a son, Terry Craig of Dyersburg; three sisters, Alene Boyd, Laverne Dunavant and Trudy Rylant, all of Ripley; a brother, Jerry Craig of Ripley; four grandchildren, Tracey (Kenneth) Patterson, Cheryl (David) Palmer, Shanna Burchfiel and Shane (Lana) Burchfiel; and 11 great-grandchildren, Garrett Purvis, Cody Purvis, Chase Patterson, Kyle Patterson, Kayla Patterson, Jordan Palmer, Emilee Palmer, Logan Palmer, Addison Burchfiel, Harper Burchfiel and Lucy Burchfiel; and his good friend and colleague, Jeff Jones.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Canada, Ronnie Barham, Adam Kilzer, Jack Boone, Mike Boone and John David McCollum. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dyer County Highway Department and members of the men's adult Sunday school class at Fowlkes Baptist Church.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
