Martha Karnese Wood, 86, of Ridgely, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She attended First Baptist Church in Ridgely and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was constantly involved in a variety of community activities.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Deal of Union City; a step-son, Robert Wood of Ridgely; two step-daughters, Wanda Bargery of Hornbeak, and Bonita Sue Batts of Clarksville; a sister, Mary Hines Davis of Waynesboro; and two grandchildren, Vickie Lebo of Tiptonville, and Mac Deal of Tyler, Texas, as well as numerous other grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Coleman Wood and Damon Deal; her parents Callie Mae and Isaac Lewis Shell; her brother Isaac Shell; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Jones.

Services will be held at the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Mike Deal officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home Ridgely Chapel.
