Martha Jean Anderson, 70, of Lenox, was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at her home in Lenox.
She was born and raised in Roellen along with her identical twin, Joan, whom she dearly loved.
She was a member of Finley Baptist Church where she utilized her gift of working with children in the nursery. One of her greatest joys in life was attending church and reading her Bible daily.
She was a retired employee of Dyer County Health Department, where she worked for 26 years. Her favorite job was being a wife, mother and grandma "on call" helping to take care of her family. She also loved worshiping with all of her church family. Her favorite verse was Jude 1:2 "Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied".
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Halliburton officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Anderson Stafford of Finley; a son, Keith Anderson and wife, Tammy, of Lenox; her twin sister, Joan Mills Lanier of Roellen; a brother, Tom Mills and wife, Donna, of Brawley, CA; five grandchildren, Jaclyn Stafford, Kaylee Anderson, Katelyn Anderson, Kade Anderson and Mary Jean Stafford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends whom she dearly loved. She also leaves behind a special friend in Christ who helped care for her the past few months, Lawanda Vaughn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Anderson; and her parents, Joe and Virginia Hendrix Mills.
Pallbearers will be Bob Bodron, Jim Bodron, David Haddock, Brad Studard, Eddie Wilbanks and Steve Sartin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Wallace, George Larry Wallace, Ann Starnes, Sissy Kirk, Causton Johnson, David Johnson, Kurt Walker and the men of Finley Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Finley Baptist Church or a favorite charity in her honor.
