Marilyn Rae Freeman Pearson, 83, of Tiptonville, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at her residence.
She was a retired teacher with the Lake County Board of Education. She was a very active and former Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Tiptonville. Ms. Marilyn has a B.S. Degree from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville and has additional college hours from U.T. Martin, Memphis State and Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Tiptonville Women's League, a member of the Lake County Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Lake County Education Association. She was also a member of the Tennessee Education Association and member of the National Education Association. Marilyn was Educator of The Year in 1994 and she also developed the Margaret Newton Little Indian Program in 1968, where almost 800 students took part in the program.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Tiptonville with the Rev. John Troutman officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near the Crystal Community. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Pearson Family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jodie Lynn Pearson of Bartlett and Rachel Ann Pearson Goodman and husband, Joey, of Gary, TX; a son, Martin Neal Pearson and wife, Pamela, of Roellen; a sister, Mercedees Agerton and husband, Bill, of Burleson, TX; five grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Tracy, Amanda and husband, Shane, Micaha and husband, Robert, Amber and husband, Martin, and Cody and wife, Amanda; and ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Garrett, Ava, Makayla, McKenzie Emma, Jesse, Kasida, Mary, and Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Pearson; and her parents, Harlie and Edna Miller Freeman.
Pallbearers will be John Runions, Joel Estes, Garrett Avitts, Shane Cozort, Jeff Hamm and Brad Poole.
