Mr. Manley Joe Monday, of Friendship, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at West Tennessee Healthcare-Jackson General Hospital. Joe was born July 14, 1955 in Crockett Co. to Peggy and Manley Monday. He was a 1973 graduate of Dyersburg High School and later studied electrical engineering in college. He worked as a travelling engineer, consulting on many projects. Later, he was a supervisor for AutoZone, helping to set up and open new retail locations. His work took him to visit all of the lower 48 United States. In his free time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, growing tomatoes and sharing them, was a fan of professional auto-racing and football and loved learning through National Geographic shows and documentaries. He is remembered for always being a cut-up with his family members and for his love for animals, especially his dog, Max.
Joe is survived by his mother, Peggy Thompson Monday, his sister Donna Willover and is fondly remembered as "Joe-Joe" by his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Manley Monday and brother-in-law Mike Willover.
A memorial service to honor the life of Joe Monday will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, led by Bro. Bob Dennison and Mr. Chris Sieber. After the memorial service, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McCanless, Chris Sieber and Steve Laster. Interment will follow at a later date in Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship, TN.
