Malcolm Leon Ragsdale, Jr., 87, of Cordova, formerly of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
He was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Dyersburg, member of Cordova Baptist Church and a WWII U.S. Army Veteran of the 95th Division, where he received two Purple Hearts.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Muston officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his two sons, Jon Dana Ragsdale of Memphis and Tommy Mac Ragsdale and wife, Judy, of McMinnville; two brothers, Howard Ragsdale and wife, Billie, of Union City and Charles Ragsdale and wife, Drucilla, of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Ragsdale Woods and husband, Travis, of Birmingham, AL. and Mary Elizabeth Ragsdale Dyer and husband, Brad, of Lexington; and five great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Tommye Austin Ragsdale; his parents, Malcolm, Sr. and Ima Dozier Ragsdale.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Cordova Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
