M. D. Kirkpatrick, Jr., 87, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Reelfoot Manor Nursing Home.
He was a retired self-employed businessman. He was the owner of Reelfoot Grocery, Crosstown Salvage, and Kirkpatrick's Used Cars. He was a member and an elder at Tiptonville Church of Christ. He was a member of Tiptonville Civitan Club and Lake County Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ochanon Berry Kirkpatrick, of Tiptonville; a daughter, Brenda Kirkpatrick Minchew and husband, Calvin, of Macon, Ga.; one grandchild Sharon Jones Broussard and husband, Ronnie, of Centerville, Ga.; one great grandchild Joseph Broussard; and three step grandchildren, Sherman Minchew, Wesley Minchew and Phillip Minchew.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Tiptonville Church of Christ with Mr. Don Reel officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Friday at the church. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his parents M.D. Kirkpatrick, Sr. and Lillie Vaughn Kirkpatrick.
Pallbearers are Virgil "Duke" Baltezor, Kendall Salmon, Fred Pollock, Richard Runions, Bill Crammer and William Denman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be J. C. Williams, Gene Lee, Dan Liles and Toy Dooley.
