Obituary

Lula Arlene Claiborne was born in Carroll County, TN on December 6, 1914. She lived in Dyersburg before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2004. She passed away there on Mother's Day, May 8, 2011.

She and her husband, Edward Hamilton Claiborne, had owned Ham Claiborne Plumbing Service on E. Court Street prior to his passing away in 1989.

Her hobbies included gardening and canning and she enjoyed reading the Bible and Christian books. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and had been honored with both "Sunday School Teacher of the Year" and "Mother of the Year" Awards.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Annie Turner and brother, Carl Turner, all of Dyersburg.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Ann Fischer, and husband Al, of Oklahoma City, OK'; Robert Turner Claiborne and wife, Ana Ruth, of Philadelphia, PA and Brenda Joyce Nash and husband, Gary, of Blue Springs, MO.; seven grandchildren, Michelle, David and Clay Johnson, LaDonna Nash Jekot, Scott and Chad Nash and Hannah Claiborne and great grandchildren, Madeline and Nash Jekot.

She is also survived by her sister, Alma Jones and deceased husband, Jimmy Jones, of Lexington, KY and brother Johnny Turner and wife, Kieu, of Jonesboro, ARK.; sister-in-law, Alberta Turner and brother-in-law, Jack Claiborne and wife, Evelyn, all of Dyersburg.
