Lucy Countess Slaughter, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Crews and Bro. Tommy Pirtle officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her son, Willie Slaughter and wife, Liz; five daughters, Paulette McGuire, Nancy Lambert, Katie S. Rutenber, Wanda Whitehouse and Rita Leach and husband, Travis; a sister, Doris Childress; two brothers, Tom Countess and Jim Countess; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Grady "Pete" Slaughter; a grandson, Chad "Bert" Lambert; her parents, William "Bill" and Lola Countess; two brothers, Gaston Countess and Willard Countess; and a sister, Verla Countess Tibbs.
Pallbearers will be Mike Boals, Charles "Whistle" Moore, William Mallard, Wayne Autry, Earl Lumley and Steve Fowler.
