Obituary

On Sunday morning, September 6, 2009, God took our loving mother, Lucile Criswell Crawford, to be with Him. For a wonderful 92 years she was a loving and caring inspiration for all that knew her. She enjoyed going shopping with her daughters and nieces.

She was a retired clerk for J. C. Penney's, a member of First Baptist Church in Lakeport, CA. and a former member of Lenox Baptist Church. She was born in Dyer County, TN on January 30, 1917 to the late Clinnie Criswell and the late Josie Armstrong Jackson.

Please come celebrate her life with us at Dyersburg Funeral Home on Wednesday evening September 9, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Bro. Bill Phipps will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning September 10, 2009 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Otha "Red" Criswell, Mark Criswell, James Criswell, Steve Smith, Bobby Goodwin and Darrell Rutledge.

She is survived by her four children, Barbara Jones of Dyersburg; Jayne Crawford Brinton and husband Richard of Carmel, CA.; Jerry Crawford and wife Dee of Branson, MO.; and Bill Crawford and wife Alice of Cottonwood, Arizona.

She is also survived by seven sisters and five brothers; Dorothy Brandon of Dyersburg, Linda Dunsmore of Lakeland, FL., Charlene Butler of Mulberry, FL., Ruby Fowler of Dyersburg, Carolyn Ketchum of Dyersburg, Pam Webb of Trimble, Lottie Sue Lewis of Newbern, Lawrence Criswell of Houston, TX, Mark Criswell of Kenton, Otha "Red" Criswell of Ripley, Johnny Criswell of Dyersburg and James Criswell of Jackson; two very special nieces, Joy Goodwin and Judy Wallace, both of Dyersburg and a special great-niece Phoebe Smith of Memphis, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gus Crawford, two grandsons, Timothy Maurice Jones and Kevin Wayne Bell; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Cannon, three sisters; Cleo Criswell Crawford, Macie Criswell Snow, Lavern Criswell Clopton and two brothers; Buford Criswell and Joe Criswell.
