Loyd Leon Long, 86, of Wynnburg, TN, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at The Bridge at Ridgely.
He was born on May 13, 1931, in Ridgely, TN, to the late Alvin Corbet Long and the late Floella Fosset Long. Loyd was a retired traffic agent for Georgia Gulf Corporation and also worked for Reelfoot Packing Company for 12 years. He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church and served as a deacon, trustee and the church treasurer. Loyd was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his country during the Korean War.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Long and Bro. Terry Council officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred M. Long of Wynnburg; two sons, Brent Long (Vicky) of Wynnburg and Michael Long (Lori) of Tiptonville; two sisters, Peggy Hart of Hornbeak and Marnette Gant of Shawtown; two grandchildren, Kelli Blankenship (Ricky) and Megan Long; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Blankenship and Alaina Long; and his brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Mary Bing of Hornbeak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Long.
Pallbearers will be George Paris, Dennis Whitson, George Hall, Lee Bing, Marshall Barker and Jerry Hays.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Wynnburg Baptist Church.
