Obituary

Lowell Bennie Welch, born on November 1, 1951, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at Jackson Specialty Select Hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by dedication to family, community, and the pursuit of excellence in his many passions.

Lowell spent his career as a lab technician for Hexpol, where he was known for his meticulous nature and unwavering commitment to quality. Beyond his professional achievements, he was an avid outdoorsman who embraced nature with heartfelt enthusiasm. An Eagle Boy Scout in his youth, Lowell carried forward his love of the outdoors by teaching children the skills to live off the land, sharing his extensive knowledge with patience and generosity.

His passion for history and art enriched his life and those around him. An accomplished artist, Lowell excelled in painting and woodworking, always striving for perfection in his craft. He was a master rabbit hunter and proudly raised grand champion Beagle dogs, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Lowell was a man of deep kindness and respect, never meeting a stranger and extending warmth to all he encountered. He loved his country and his faith profoundly, attending Finley Pentecostal Church, where his spirit of generosity and community was evident. Most cherished of all was his devotion to his wife, Teresa, whom he affectionately called "Beaut," and to his entire family.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Teresa Welch of Halls, Tennessee; his son, Rob Sharp and wife Amber of Newbern, Tennessee; and his three daughters: Brandy Rose and her husband David of Germantown, Tennessee, Tiffany Pride and her husband Bryan of Finley, Tennessee, and Tasha Applewhite and her husband Dion of Samburg, Tennessee. Lowell’s legacy also lives on through his ten grandchildren—Parker Grace Rose, Luke Rose, Dylan Enochs, Makayla Sawyers, Jacob Dorse, A.J. Enochs, Brylee Pride, Kinlee Sharp, Gage Pride, and Sumar Sharp—and seven great-grandchildren. Lowell’s three sisters—Betty Stephens of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Judy Sentell of Brownsville, Tennessee, and Carol Richards of Clinton, Mississippi—continue to honor his memory along with all whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie A. Welch; mother, Maxine Tucker Welch; brother, Jack Welch; grandchild, D.J. Dorse; and great-grandchild, Robert Noah Enochs.

A visitation will be held on April 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of Lowell Bennie Welch—a devoted family man, a true craftsman, and a beacon of kindness and strength. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Serving as pallbearers will Dylan Enochs, A.J. Enochs, Gage Pride, Jacob Dorse, James Sawyers and Addison Kirk. Honorary pallbearers will be his Thursday Morning Breakfast Club, Ronnie Winstead, Luke Rose and Brandon Riles.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
