Obituary

Louise Owsley, 99, of Dyersburg, TN passed away on Monday March 6, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on October 26, 1923 in Friendship, TN to the late John and Georgia Reynolds Cobb. Louise and her late husband, James Owsley, started Owsley's Fish Market & Café in 1956. Together they also owned and operated the Owsley Ice Company for many years here in Dyersburg. Louise enjoyed gardening, flowers and canning. She loved to share her passion of flowers with anyone and everyone and because of that she has flowers blooming all over this area. Louise and James also grew a huge garden every year and was proud to have over an acre of okra every year. She also enjoyed sewing dolls and clothes for her family and was an avid collector of Teapots, with over 135 in her collection. Louise was a member of The Church of Nazarene.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Elam and Pastor Dewayne Hood officiating. Burial will be in Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her three daughters, Delores Ann White (Dennis) of Lockport, IL, Johnnie Anita Carroll (Nolen, Jr.) and Jimmie Gail Rietcheck (Larry) all of Dyersburg, TN; twelve grandchildren, Brian White, Sherrie Olthoff (Greg), James Spicer (Misty), John Spicer (Katrina), Timothy Bennett (Tina), Michael Carroll (Simone), Melissa King (Johnny), Melony Dunlap (Mark), McKenzie Webb (Rodney), Vickie Glisson (Raymond), Ronnie Carroll (Christie) and Sandra Carroll Wiggins; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Spicer; her sister, Martha Garner; and three grandchildren, Terry Carroll, Tony Carroll and Jason Spicer.

Pallbearers will be Tim Bennett, Michael Carroll, Ronnie Carroll, Cody Bennett, James Spicer and John Spicer. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Fowlkes, Johnny King and Mark Dunlap.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers for the wonderful care of their mother over the last 15 months, Linda Goff, Geraldine Hendren, Virginia Vaughn, Peggy Reeves and Sherrian Tucker.
