Obituary

Louis D. "Jim" Neal, 82, of Dyersburg, formerly of Bonicord, died Friday, September 24, 2010, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Dyersburg, TN.

He was retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years. He was a member and song leader at Lake Road Church of Christ for 30 years, and was a current member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ. He served in the army in World War II.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Parr Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Scott Owen officiating with Dr. Ralph Reynolds assisting. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Parr Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Marjorie Smith Neal of Dyersburg; a daughter, Debra Neal Nowlin (David) of Waverly, TN; a grandson, James Nowlin (Ann) of Memphis; a granddaughter, Sarah West (Blake) of Austin, TX; a stepson, Joel Dickerson (Ann) of Collierville TN; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Dickerson of Memphis; 3 great grandsons, Greyson West, Eli West, and Case Nowlin; 4 step-grandchildren, Jennie & Laura Dickerson of Collierville, TN and Tyler & Cali Dickerson of Sugar Grove, IL; a brother, Leroy Neal (Polly) of Dyersburg; and a step son-in-law, Brad Dickerson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettye McKee Neal, a son, Jimmy Neal, a step-daughter, Nancy Dickerson, his parents, Charlie and Ora Lou Neal, and three brothers, Charles, Percy, and Joe.

Pallbearers will be Bill Neal, David Nowlin, Joel Dickerson, James Nowlin, Kenneth Neal, and Spence Lowery. Honorary pallbearers will be retired U. S. Postal Workers.
