Obituary

Louis Edward Nash Sr, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away December 26, 2023 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.

The son of Ada and O. D Nash, was born July 27, 1948 in Halls, TN. He later attended Halls Consolidated School.

On February 29, 1968 at the age of 21, Louis enlisted in the United States Army.  He was trained in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and then deployed to the jungle of Vietnam.  On February 28, 1969, he was wounded while on patrol in Vietnam. He was discharged and received a Purple Heart. He was proud of his service and would often say "I can go to any VA hospital anywhere because I am a veteran."

Louis always loved cars and blues, and had the ability to fix any vehicle.  Upon being discharged from the Army, he started his career as a long-haul Truck driver for several companies. Louis was known throughout the family as the person who taught several of the young people to drive.

In 1972, Louis married Patricia Williams and out of this union two children were born, Trenis and Louis Nash, Jr.  After several years of living in Tennessee, Louis moved to Blytheville, AR where he met and married Mandie Robinson Clark. They would eventually move from Blytheville to Memphis where he resided from 2012 to 2020.   After the death of his late wife Mandie and due to his fragile health, Louis was moved back to Arkansas and was cared for and supported by his children Trenis and Louis Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings (Delois, Willie, Zelma, and Marshall). Cherished memories of Louis are shared by his children Trenis and Louis Nash, Jr, four grandchildren (Devin, Dayona, Korday, and Kayla), five great grandchildren, one sister, Diane Haskins (Sam), Blytheville, AR, one brother Paul Nash, St Louis, MO, two step-sons, Thomas and John Clark, Memphis, TN, twenty-five nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

We never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. The memorial service to honor Louis's life and military service, will be held at the Dyersburg Funeral Home on January 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tennessee State Veterans Home, 2865 East Main Street, Humboldt, TN 38343.
