Louis Clifford Fumbanks III, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 in Vicksburg, MS. He was 83 years old. L.C. as he was known, was born and raised in Dyersburg. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
L.C. graduated from Dyersburg High School and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, as Chief of Navigation Branch.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the church.
L.C. was preceded in death by his father, Louis C. Fumbanks, Jr. and his mother Helen Smith Fumbanks, both of Dyersburg.
He leaves behind to mourn his death two sons, Louis C. Fumbanks, IV, (Cindy) of Vicksburg, MS, and James M. Fumbanks of Guntersville, AL, one granddaughter, Anna K. Fumbanks of Hattiesburg, MS, three sisters Helen Jane Lindamood (Bill) of Tiptonville, Christine Lucas (Richard) of Benton, AR, Phoebe Hensley (Danny) of Tupelo, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two close friends Robert Tisdale and Michael White.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Pierce, III and the ICU nurses at Merit Health (River Region), Vicksburg, MS, for their loving care during L.C.' s illness.
