Lorene Maddox, lovingly also known as Mema, age 99, of Ridgely TN, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at her home in Ridgely TN.
She was born May 20 th , 1923, to the late Francis and James Sims. She was married to Junior Fowler from 1942-1973, they lived in Memphis where she was raising her children for several years. They then moved to Lake County where she worked at H.I.S. until retiring. She was a faithful member of Cottonwood Baptist Church and enjoyed any time that she would get together at church with family and friends. She enjoyed to cook, sew, and do crafts in her spare time. In 1975, Lorene married Mr. LB Maddox, who made her life complete. Her children had a stepfather like no other. Together they always had a large garden. Life was good in her marriage to LB, until his death in 2010.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Cottonwood Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Adams officiating. Burial will follow at New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Cottonwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Norman Fowler (Louise) of Humboldt, Bevelyn Chandler (Roger) of Memphis, Brenda Prince (Truman) of Obion, Michael Fowler (Helen) of Memphis, Deborah Wood (Ronald) of Obion, and one sister Betty Cain
of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mema also had 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by 2 sons, Gary and Thomas Fowler; one daughter Peggy McBride; three brothers, Lee, JK and Jimmie Sims; one sister Ruth; one grandson, Jerry Wayne Doyle and one great grandson John Wyeth Doyle.
Pallbearers will be David Evans, Tony Prince, Adam Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Brandon Scott, Buddy Cavness, and Jimmy Butler.
