Linda B. Shumate, 72, of Tiptonville, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Jackson Regional Hospital.
She was a retired correctional officer for Northwest Correctional Facility.
Services will be a 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tiptonville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen and Bro. Richard Kenyon officiating. Burial will be in Buckelew Cemetery in Tiptonville. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Felisha Darden of Jackson and Sunny Gale Berry of Tiptonville; two sisters, Naomi Archie of Tiptonville and Bessie Sanders of Hickman, KY; two brothers, Franklin D. Buckelew of Harrisburg, AR and Richard Buckelew of Dresden; six grandchildren, Nikki McAlexander, Drew Spain, Taylor Spain, Landon Spain, Cliff Berry, Jr. and Astin Berry; and three great-grandchildren, Stone McAlexander, Sterling Duncan and Kaleigh Berry.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Shumate IV; and her parents, Grover and Bessie Walters Buckelew.
Pallbearers will be Brad Poole, Kelley Jones, Artie Lynch, Anthony Lovell, Pete Gray, Glen Bargery, Bobby Joe Jones, Jack Haynes, Jr. and R.J. Hays. Honorary pallbearers will be Brenda Jones, Judy Lipsey, Suzanna Davis, Penny Bratton, Doris Smith and Michael Young.
