Linda Lou Harness Carter entered Heaven on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was born in the Millsfield community in Dyer County, Tennessee September 23, 1937, to the late Frank and Mozelle Harness.
Linda was a member at West Dyersburg Church of Christ. Her steadfast faith in our Lord and Savior was evident throughout her life through her interactions with others. She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, quick wit, fun-loving nature, and love of family.
Linda was a stay-at-home mother and as children grew up, she worked as a kindergarten teacher for Harding Academy, Claims Processer at the Internal Revenue Service, and Administrative Assistant at the Memphis Defense Depot. After her working career, she and her husband, Gene enjoyed their trips and family vacations. She loved having family together including cookouts and swimming gatherings at their home.
Linda is survived in death by her husband of 67 years, Gene Carter; She is survived by a sister, Shelia (Ken) Groshart of Germantown, TN. She is also survived by her three children: Scott (Annaree) Carter of Newbern, TN; Tina (Barry) England of Columbia, TN; Kent (Vicky) Carter of Jackson, TN. She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren; Scott (Mandy) Carter of Arlington, TN; Wes (Lacey) Carter of Newbern, TN; Whitney (Travis) Young of Jackson, TN; Carter (Allison) England of Huntsville, AL, Haley (Will) Mantlo of Nashville, TN; Shelley (Ben) Vaughn of Jenison, MI; Zac (Caurie) Carter of Collierville, TN; and twelve great- grandchildren, with two more on the way.
A service to celebrate the life of Linda will be held at Dyersburg Funeral Home on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 1pm. The family will begin receiving friends at 11 am.
Memorial donations may be made to the McIver's Grant Public Library of Dyersburg, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
