Obituary

Lillian Russell Yarbro, 90, of Dyersburg died October 7, 2017,  at the Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home.  Born April 6, 1927, in Tiptonville, TN. She was the daughter of the late Clem and Lillian Richardson Armstrong. She was the wife of Bert Yarbro, Jr. for 59 years until his death in 2006.  They made their home in Hickman, Kentucky until 2000 when they moved to Dyersburg.

Russell, as she was called, was a fun loving generous person who was loved by many.  She was an excellent seamstress and represented Dyer County in the Sew With Cotton division at the Mid-South Fair. She was a quilter and recently won The Best of Show at the Dyer County Fair for her yoyo quilt. She loved to sew, travel, play cards, and be around young people at church. She took her last trip at the age of 88 cruising through the Panama Canal. Russell was a 50 year lifetime member of the Fulton County-Kentucky Extension Homemakers and was always ready to learn a new craft or hobby. She was a member of the Regional Hospital Senior Circle, Dyer County Senior Citizens, Dyersburg Home Demonstration Club, and the West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughters, Janis Algee (Robin) of Dyersburg and Ginger Connolly (Pete) of Ringgold, GA. Russell had four grandchildren, Robert Lee Algee of Arlington TN, Patrick Lynn Algee (Kelly) of Spring Hill, TN, Peter M. Connolly, of Chattanooga, TN, and Michele Riley (Reid) of Roswell, GA. Her four great-grandchildren are Sydney Algee, Max Algee, Valerie Algee, and Lilly Algee. Carmen Armstrong of Memphis and Danny Armstrong (Anita) of Dyersburg are her two surviving brothers.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bert Yarbro, Jr. and grandson, Gregory Alan Algee.

The Yarbro family will receive friends Tuesday, October 10, from 5 pm until 8 pm at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Minister Jim Chamblee conducting the service. Burial is to follow at New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, Tn.

Sherrell Armstrong, David Armstrong, David Harlan, Joey Markham, Jon Morris, and Bill Ables will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Maple Ridge Assisted Living and Dyersburg Manor nursing home for their care and support during Russell's life at their facilities.
