Leonard Lamar Cook, Sr., 91, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 at his daughter's residence in Oakland, TN.

Leonard was born on August 13, 1928, in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Lewis Madison Cook and the late Jewell Gober Cook. He moved from Alabama to Dyersburg, TN to run the movie theatres and drive-in. Later he retired from National Life Insurance Company as an insurance salesman. Leonard loved camping, boating, music and especially playing the organ. He was a devoted and loving family man and loved working in his yard.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Barcroft officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The Cook Family will receive visitors from 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela Matlock and husband, Steve, of Oakland, TN; two sons, Michael Cook of Newport, TN and Doug Cook of Dyersburg, TN; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Billa Joyce Nance Cook; and a son, Leonard Lamar Cook, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pittman, David Pruitt, Doug Cook, Danny Williams, Nick Tindal and Gary Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Allmon and Michael Cook.
