L.D. Gant, 63, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence.

He was a general agent for State Farm Insurance, an U.S. Army Captain from 1971-1979, member of Kiwanis Club, Dyer Baptist Association and Dyersburg Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he was Chairman of Deacons, 20 year member of the Building Committee, Sunday School Teacher for the Cornerstone Class, which he taught for 25 years and a member of the choir.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Hickman and Dr. Raymond Boston officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly P. Gant of Dyersburg; two sons, Marc Gant and wife, Brook, of Murfreesboro and Matthew Gant and wife, Lauren, of Dyersburg; three sisters, Rachel Bargery of Newbern, Audrey Dale Bargery and Jeanette Turner, both of Ridgely; two brothers, Joe Gant of Tiptonville and Douglas Gant of Ridgely; and three grandchildren, Luke Dalton Gant, Harrison Eli Gant and Meredith Steele Gant.

Pallbearers will be Ben Ragan, Roger Alexander, Larry White, Bubba Hendren, Randy Brooks, Larry Rogers, Ken Leeth and Keith Guthrie. Honorary pallbearers will be Kiwanis Club of Dyersburg, First Baptist Church Deacons, "Men's Chorale", and Cornerstone Sunday School Class.
