Obituary

L.B. Maddox, 88, of Ridgely, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Union City Manor Nursing Center.

He was a retired truck driver for Vaughn Oil Company, member of Cottonwood Baptist Church, attended Calvary Chapel Church in Bogota and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Pastor Ruth Green and Bro. Bob Dennison officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Ridgely.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Fowler Maddox of Ridgely; a daughter, Portia Bennett of Union City; a son, Danny Maddox of Tiptonville; four step-daughters, Peggy McBride, Brenda Prince and Debbie Woods, all of Obion and Bevelyn Chandler of Bartlett; two step-sons, Norman Fowler of Middleton and Michael Fowler of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Buton Thurmond of Poplar Bluff, MO; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Esther Barber Maddox.

Pallbearers will be Steve Kendall, David Evans, Joe Bennett, Ray Canada, Harlan Bennett, Tracy Wilson and Roger Jordan.
