Obituary

Mr. Lawrence Melvin Wilson, 82, of Dyersburg, Tennessee passed away Sunday at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was retired manager of Warren Radio. He served in the Army in the Korean War. He was a former member of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Mr. Wilson was a member and deacon emeritus at Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and member of Dyersburg Golf Association; a former member of Dyersburg Rotary Club and formerly served with Dyersburg Housing Authority.

Visitation will be from 5:30pm until 8pm Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 10am to 11am Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be 11am Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lynn King. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Peggy Dean Wilson of Dyersburg and his two sons Mark Wilson and wife Lisa, of Dyersburg, Tn and John Kent Wilson and wife Paula, of Liberty, Texas. Mr Wilson is survived by his six grandchildren Ashley Wilson Maples (David, of Maryville, Tn., Liz Wilson McKee (Ryan), of Memphis, Tn., Jessica Wilson, Johnna Chessor Jolonek, Kayce Chessor Moore of Dyersburg, Tn. and Matthew Wilson, of Knoxville, Tn. and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law Mable Wilson and Helen Wilson both of Dyersburg, Tn.

Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, James "Jim" Wilson and Lorena Scott Wilson and his step-mother, Annie Mai Seat Wilson; his sisters, Lucille Wilson Morris, Pearl Wilson Perkins, Kathleen Wilson McCage and Lois Osborn. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Grady Wilson, Cleo Wilson, Wallace "Pete" Wilson, Wayne Wilson, Milton "Turner" Wilson and Ray Frank Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Roy Childress, Danny Parker, Vernon Jones, David Greer, Claudie Gaskins, and Van Spoon.

Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or American Heart Association.
