Lawrence "Larry" Newton James, age 79 of Dyersburg, TN passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at West TN Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Larry was born on November 20, 1942 in Greenfield, TN to the late Cecil and Ruth Ann Whitis James. He was in banking for many years working at Farmers Bank where he served as Vice-President and later at First Tennessee Bank. After retiring from the bank he began to sell life insurance for New York Life and Eison Insurance. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and making handmade duck calls. He was a board member of The Call-makers & Collectors Association of America - Reelfoot Chapter. Most days you could find Larry at his favorite dinning spot, Mel's Diner, getting breakfast or lunch. He enjoyed travelling and anything TN Vols sports. Larry was a member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

A private family burial will be held Thursday afternoon. A public memorial service honoring Larry's life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at West Dyersburg Church of Christ conducted by Bro. Jim Chamblee.

Survivors include his two sons, Lawrence "Loren" James II (Ashley) of Memphis, TN and William Brian James (Chrissy Ziegler) of Obion, TN; one brother, Mart James (Kitty) of Dyersburg, TN; one sister-in-law, Janet James of Maryville, TN; one niece, Taylor Jarrel (Zach); two nephews, Andrew James (Libby) and Ben James and one grandson on the way.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Steve James.
