Obituary

Lawana H. Baker, age 91, of Oakland, TN, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Born on April 27, 1933, in Dyersburg, TN, she was the beloved daughter of the late Virgil Lee Hubble and Amelia Holt Hubble. Lawana was a dedicated head cashier at Kroger and was known for her exceptional baking skills. She was a cherished member of the Fountain of Truth Church in Bartlett and also attended the United Pentecostal Church in Dyersburg.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Dyersburg Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. She will be laid to rest in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Baker, Sr. and wife, Pat, of Oakland, TN; two grandchildren, Dennis Baker and Jeffrey Baker (Kelli); and three grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Baker Evans (Morgun), Taylor Baker and Grace Baker.

In addition to her parents, Lawana was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon P. Baker; two sisters, Jessie Lee Ganter and Jane Hutchins; and five brothers, Ishmael Hubble, V.L. Hubble, Jerry Hubble, Joy Hubble and Al Hubble.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
