Zadie LaVerne Nicks, 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Signature Healthcare of Ridgely.

She was born on March 6, 1929, in Corinth, MS, to the late, Albert Sydney Riley and the late Lily Ruth Barber Riley. LaVerne graduated from Newbern Votech with her LPN License. She worked as an LPN for over 40 years, with 25 of those years at Internal Medicine of Dyersburg. LaVerne was an active member of Phillips Street Church of Christ. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed time with family, grandchildren and friends.

Memorial services will be Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. at Phillips Street Church of Christ with Bro. Andy Brewer officiating.

Survivors include her two daughters, Amanda Nicks Petty (Alan) of Wynnburg, TN and Lydia Nicks of Dyersburg, TN; a brother, Osby Riley of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Tara Nicks of Dyersburg, TN and Ashley Nicks of Wynnburg, TN; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Orville Nicks; a son, James Phillip Nicks; a sister, Margaret Helen Riley; and a brother, Edwin Riley.
