Obituary

Landon Parker Hughes, 12, of Finley, TN, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

Landon was born on January 12, 2007, in Dyersburg to his loving parents, Andy Hughes and Georgia Hughes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Finley Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Halliburton and Bro. Andrew Wright officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019 at Finley Baptist Church.

Landon was a beautiful, loving child with an incredible, infectious smile. He was well known for his silly jokes and puns. Landon was an inquisitive, intelligent child with a passion for reading and learning. He attended Three Oaks Middle School where he was a member of the National Jr. Honor Society, on the Honor Roll, STEM Club and Three Oaks Band. He was an avid reader and loved Star Wars, Zelda, Nintendo, Harry Potter, Pokémon and Marvel Comics. Landon loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Daisy. He often expressed an interest in becoming a vet or a chef as he loved to cook and bake. He had plans to attend Harvard.

Landon is survived by his parents, Andy Hughes (Shelby Johnson) and Georgia Hughes (Justin Crawford). In addition to his parents, he is survives by Jake Hughes, Hailey Hughes, Lane Crawford, Kyleigh Crawford and Easton Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Tommy and Deidra White of Dyersburg; his paternal grandparents, Linda Hughes of Dyersburg and Glen and Kathy Hughes of Gulfport, MS and Steve and Janice Dronet of Dyersburg; great-grandparents, Glenda Patterson of Finley, Margaret Holtshouser of Dyersburg, Rose White, Tom and Tina White, all of Finley and Carol and Gerald Hughes of Alamo. He also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends that loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Mary Holtshouser; and his great-grandfathers, Gene Patterson and Bob Holtshouser.

Pallbearers will be James Todd Harrison, Frankie Carrol, Jamie Evans, Zack Hutcherson, Todd Columns and Daniel Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Cobb and Lane Crawford.

The family would like to thank the entire EMS and medical community, including Air Evac Lifeteam, Hospital Wing, the staff and physicians at Dyersburg ER, the Med and LeBonheur for the incredible care they provided this family. The family appreciates all of the prayers, concerns, calls, texts and food extended to us during this time.

Landon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Although destined to do great things, he had already accomplished this by bringing great joy and happiness to all around him.

Memorials may be directed to Three Oaks Middle School Band or to the Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society.
