Kenneth Ray Foster, 79, of Nashville, TN passed away on December 9th, 2020 in Centennial Hospital in Nashville.
Kenneth was born on May 5th, 1941 in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Luther and Marie Foster. He worked at GTE Sylvania until the plant closed. He then started as a Correctional Officer at the Old Fort Pillow Prison in Henning. He later transferred to Northwest Correctional Facility in Tiptonville, TN. Mr. Foster retired after 23 years of service with the State of Tennessee.
He was an avid gardener and loved to share the harvest with his neighbors. He was an avid reader and loved all animals, wildlife, and nature.
Mr. Foster is survived by his Daughter, Rhonda Whitt (Joey) of Nashville, TN; his son, Joseph Foster (Sandra) of Miston, TN; his God Granddaughter, Jessica Hudson (Daniel Brown) of Newbern, TN; four God great-grandchildren, Ava Harris, Ahsha Harris, DJ Brown, and Michael Brown, of Newbern, TN; three brothers, Clifford Foster (Sherry) of Miston, TN, Luther Foster Jr. (Karen) and Rocky Foster (Kathy) all of Dyersburg, TN; five sisters, Lois Younger of Ridgely, TN, Bobbie Crosnoe (James) of Dyersburg, TN, Anna Stewart (Steven) of Ridgely, TN, Modine Brown of Mary Ester, FL. and Joannie Parrish (James) of Dyersburg, TN.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann Foster; his oldest son, Kenny Ray Foster of Ridgely, TN; two sisters, Carolyn Foster at 11 months old and Geneva Sue Ragsdale (Harvey); and two brothers, Marvin Foster of Killeen TX (Kay) and Loyd W. Foster of Killeen, TX (Betty).
Pallbearers will include Christopher Stewart, Daniel Brown, Faron Stewart, Jerry Crosnoe, Gerald Canada and Alex Scott.
Due to COVID 19 virus concerns the family will be having graveside services Saturday, December 12th, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Danny O'Guin officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the services. Face masks are required for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request you make a donation to the American Cancer Society (in honor of his son Kenny) or St. Jude Children's Hospital, in his memory.
