Karon Lee Griffin, 69, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her residence.

Karon was born on August 6, 1951, in Tiptonville, TN, to the late Charles and Bessie Lee Hatley Parnell. She was a retired teacher with the Dyer County School System and was the former Dyer County Choctaws girls basketball coach. Karon played basketball for the University of Tennessee Martin and was a proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, loved to fish and was an accomplished artist. Karon played the guitar, banjo and multiple stringed instruments.

A private family service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Pate officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Lakeview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, Gilbert Parnell (Terry) of Tiptonville, TN; two nieces, Leah Beal of Tiptonville, TN and Becky Orr of Hornbeak, TN; and a nephew, Jordan Parnell of Tiptonville, TN.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Beal, Brandon Orr, Jeff Hudson and Jordan Parnell.

Memorials may be directed to Lakeview Baptist Church.
