Joyce Gatlin, age 90, a beloved resident of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Okeena Health & Rehabilitation. She was born on February 25, 1936, in Dyersburg, TN. Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late R.B. and Katie Mae Atchison Gatlin.
Joyce attended Dyersburg High School and spent her years cultivating a sense of devotion and quiet strength. She was a faithful member of the Phillips Street Church of Christ, remaining dedicated to her spiritual community throughout her life. Even when unable to attend services, Joyce was diligent in her commitment to her faith, consistently paying her tithing with steadfast regularity.
Those who knew Joyce recall her gentle and reserved nature. She was a very quiet person who kept to herself, preferring simple pleasures and quiet moments. Joyce’s days were often brightened by activities she enjoyed deeply working crossword puzzles, watching television, and shopping. She particularly loved her visits to Wal-Mart and Kroger, finding delight in the routines and small joys these errands provided.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery with Mr. Andy Brewer officiating. Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Joyce is survived by her sister-in-law, Carolyn Gatlin of Obion, TN; her nephew, David Brian Gatlin of Obion, TN; two great-nieces, Brandi Gatlin of Jackson, TN and Candi Beeler of Reeves, TN; her twin great-great-nephews, Brilan Allen and Braden Allen, both of Jackson, TN; and her special friend, Levon Harrington of Dyersburg, TN. Her kindness, unwavering faith, and quiet presence will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Though Joyce’s life was marked by simplicity and solitude, her devotion and warmth left a lasting impression on those around her. Her memory will be cherished always.
