Joyce "Joy" Elaine Winters, age 75 of Finley, TN passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.
Joy was born on September 16, 1947 in Qulin, MO to the late Murrow and Jettie Riggs Sanderson. She married the love of her life, Larry Gene Winters on January 28, 1966 and have been married for 57 years. Joy worked as a State Gazette paper carrier for 33 years. Joy enjoyed going to church at Our Little Country Church and the Junction Church of God, riding side by sides with her husband, spending time camping in Chic, family get togethers and watching her favorite tv show, Gunsmoke. Even on her worst days, her great grandson Rafe could make her smile. In her last days she quoted this scripture daily; "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" Philippians 1:21. She has gained her new body and is worshipping at the feet of Jesus.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 5 until 8 at Dyersburg Funeral Home and again from 10 until 1 on Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Our Little Country Church. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Our Little Country Church conducted by Bro. Royce McGuire. Burial will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Larry Gene Winters; two daughters, Charlotte Dombrowski (Terry) and Sherry Asher (Mark); one brother, Buddy Sanderson (Barb); one sister in law, Linda Barham; four grandchildren, Dylan Haycraft (Janey), Tucker Haycraft (Ashley), Lynn Davis and Laynie Davis; five great grandchildren, Rafe Haycraft, Cayden Cole, Kase-Lynn Dunn, Case Dunn and Jaxon Harris; five nephews, Bud Sanderson (Teresa), John Sanderson, Neal Lewis (Angie), Chucky Burk (Cindy) and David Phillips-Burk (Pam); and four nieces, Gina Bernard (Mike), Pat Mann (Mike), Michelle Moody ( Stacy) and Terry Brown (Jerry).
In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her three sisters, Nellie Mae Lewis, Brenda Burk and Mardell Sanderson; and her nephew, Jeff Blackburn.
Honoring Joy as pallbearers will be Jeremy Patterson, Harold Mallard, Adam McGuire, Barry Moody, Neal Lewis and Bud Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Mancell, Johnny Jones and Carlton Carroll.
